Technology being what it is (a unpredictable horse that bites), we thought you might appreciate some tips about how to download and use the slideshows NICHCY has created to help trainers frame their presentations.

For the English Slideshows

  • Click on the link for the ZIP folder of the slideshow you'd like to download.
  • Your friend the computer will give you two options: OPEN or SAVE. Pick: SAVE.
  • Your friend the computer will ask you where you'd like to save the slide show.
  • Navigate to the location of your choice--maybe your desktop, maybe a folder you've set up to store all the IDEA training modules.
  • There! You've downloaded the ZIP file of the slideshow presentation.
  • Extracting the ZIP folder by double-clicking on it. You will likely be asked (by your friend the computer) where you'd like to extract the folder to--somewhere on your computer. Navigate to the location of your choice, and click OK.
  • Within the folder of extracted files, you'll see one called PLAY.BAT. Double-click on that, and the slideshow will launch.

Note: The slideshows were originally created in PowerPoint. But they've been saved so that you don't need the PowerPoint software to use them. Double-click on the PLAY.BAT file, and you're ready to roll the training.

For the Spanish Slideshows

The slideshows in Spanish were created in PowerPoint and have been saved differently than the English version: as SHOWS. This approach reduced the file size considerably (hence, no zip folders), but it also means that, if you do not have the PowerPoint software, you'll need to download the free Viewer that allows you to use the SHOWS. We mentioned this throughout the listing of modules above.

If you don't have PowerPoint, download free Viewer now and install it.

  • To download the slideshow in Spanish from NICHCY's website:
  • Click on the link for the SHOW you'd like.
  • Your friend the computer will give you two options: OPEN or SAVE. You can open the slideshow right online and view it, if you like, or you can SAVE it to your computer.
  • If you choose SAVE, your friend the computer will ask you where you'd like to save the slideshow.
  • Navigate to the location of your choice--maybe your desktop, maybe a folder you've set up to store all the IDEA training modules.
  • There! You've downloaded the SHOW for a module.
  • Double-click on its filename, and the slideshow will launch. It will follow the commands and clicks described in the Trainer's Guide in Spanish.
