Research and Training Center (RTC) on Early Childhood Development

The Research and Training Center (RTC) on Early Childhood Development seeks to promote and enhance the healthy development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with or at risk for developmental delays or disabilities. The RTC was established to create a bridge between research evidence and early childhood intervention practices. The website is designed to be useful for parents, therapists, early childhood educators and early interventionists, as well as researchers. The website includes information about effective practices based on research. Their information includes (1) "Centerscope" [articles that provide detailed information about the conceptual and operational framework used to guide RTC activities as well as they describe the history of evidence-based practice, evidence-based strategies for dissemination and utilization, and the results of field tests that have been conducted by RTC staff]; (2) "Bridges" [practice-centered research syntheses of topics related to early childhood development]; (3) "Bottomlines" [one-to-two page summaries of practice-based research syntheses]; (4) "If It Fits" [ideas pages that are two-page newsletters packed with creative suggestions for using an evidence-based early childhood practice]; and (5) "Cornerpiece" [brochures that offer a concise description of a practice, how to carry it out, and how to tell if you are using it correctly].
