American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP)

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) promotes mentally healthy children, adolescents and families through research, training, advocacy, prevention, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, peer support and collaboration. The AACAP website page "Facts for Families" provides concise and up-to-date information on issues that affect children, teenagers, and their families.  This is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Malaysian, Polish, and Icelandic. The AACAP's is a membership based organization, composed of over 7,500 child and adolescent psychiatrists and other interested physicians. Its members actively research, evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric disorders and pride themselves on giving direction to and responding quickly to new developments in addressing the health care needs of children and their families.

American Association of Children's Residential Centers (AACRC)

The American Association of Children's Residential Centers (AACRC) is a national organization of professionals who together strive to advance knowlege of therapeutic living environments for children and adolescents with behavioral health disorders.  AACRC (1) conducts conferences, provides continuing education, supports the "Residential Treatment for Children & Youth" journal, creates opportunity for professional exchange; (2) shares information, enhances awareness, and encourages research and study on outcomes; (3) Advocates for clinical needs of children, adolescents and families.

American Association of Suicidology (AAS)

The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide. AAS directs its efforts to advance suicidology as a science; encourages the development and application of strategies to reduce suicidal behaviors; compile, develop, evaluate and disseminate accurate information to the public; and promote research and training.  ASS offers conferences & trainings, publications, survivor services and accreditation & certification.

American Indian Parent Network (AIPN)

American Indian Parent Network (AIPN), a project of the PACER Center, is a support and information center for Indian parents of children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral disorders or who are at-risk. AIPN services include: workshops for parents and professionals; individual assistance; parent-to-parent support; written information; culturally competent services; and Indian Family Resource Consultants.

American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA)

The American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) provides support to professional mental health counselors. AMHCA is committed to improving the availability and quality of mental health counseling services through licensure and certification, political and legislative action, rigorous training standards, and consumer advocacy.

The American Psychological Association (APA) works to: (1) advance psychology as a science and profession; (2) promote research; (3) increase and diffuse psychological knowledge; and (4) apply research findings to the promotion of the public welfare.

Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA)

The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA)promotes the prevention, treatment and cure of anxiety disorders and improvement in the lives of all people who are affected by them. The ADAA has an extensive web site, with an online bookstore. It publishes a variety of materials, convenes an annual conference, advocates for patients' rights, and supports anxiety disorders research.

Attachment & Trauma Network

The Attachment Disorder Parents Network (ADN) is a voluntary parent support group, working to provide information about attachment disorders, to organize local support groups, and to produce a quarterly newsletter. ADN maintains a network of contact people in each state.

Behavioral Health Program

The Behavioral Health Program supports the American Indian and Alaska Native cultures. The Indian Health Service Division of Behavioral Health strives to support tribal and urban Native communities to eliminate behavioral health diseases and conditions, and to promote health, resilience, and strength in all communities.

Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL)

The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning is a five-year project designed to strengthen the capacity of Head Start and child care programs to improve the social and emotional outcomes of young children. The Center will develop training and technical assistance (T/TA) materials that reflect evidence-based practices for promoting children's social and emotional development and preventing challenging behaviors. The Center will then work with professional organizations and Head Start and child care T/TA providers to ensure the use of the evidence-based practices in local demonstration sites.
