Abstract:
“Connecting the Dots” is an online C to B transition training, developed by the North Central Regional Resource Center and the Iowa Department of Education. This training is designed to assist Service Coordinators, LEA staff, and parents in understanding aspects of early childhood transition, including: IDEA 2004, State Policies and Procedures, Roles and Responsibilities, Recommended Practices, Relationships with Families, and Iowa-specific transition information. This site will be customized to each state's needs with state-specific information included. Currently, the NCRRC is disseminating this training resource nationally to several states.

Abstract:
The National Early Childhood Transition Initiative supports states’ capacity to address transition issues, implement improvement activities, and demonstrate progress in meeting the requirements of the State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Reports (APR) for the Early Childhood Transition Indicators C8 and B12. This document was developed for TA organizations to support strategic planning efforts with states. It is a framework and tool for states to analyze their transition system infrastructure and systematically identify improvement strategies to improve local implementation of the transition requirements of the IDEA as well as support effective local infrastructures for effective transition practices.

Information supplied by the coordinators of state and jurisdictional Section 619 programs updates the following content areas: program administration, funding, and education reform; charter and private schools; interagency coordination; personnel; transition; programming; accreditation and monitoring; performance outcomes; public awareness; IEPs, IFSPs, and family-centered services; state preschool program data from www.ideadata.org; and contact information for state and jurisdictional program coordinators.
