The aims of IDEA’s Parent Training and Information program are:

  • to support parent training and information centers to carry out activities that meet the needs of parents of children with disabilities living in the area served by the center, particularly underserved parents and parents of children who may be inappropriately identified; and

  • to help parents understand the availability of, and how to effectively use, the procedural safeguards under IDEA.

Funding of IDEA's Parent Training and Information grants is delegated to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), at the U.S. Department of Education. This NICHCY Web page will connect you to descriptions of projects that received Fiscal Year 2004 funds from OSEP under IDEA's Parent Training and Information program.

These grants appear in Volume 3 of Discretionary Projects Supported by the Office of Special Education Programs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Fiscal Year 2004: Technical Assistance, Dissemination, Parent Information, and State Improvement. (Note: Volume 3 also includes projects funded under the Technical Assistance and State Improvement program areas, which are described online separately.) Copies of Volume 3 are available from NICHCY while supplies last. We are also pleased to make this information available to you online.

We’ve grouped the projects funded under the Parent Training and Information program within the competitions under which they were funded. Within each competition, projects are arranged in order from the earliest to the most recent.
