| IDEA's Technology
and Media Services program funds projects intended to:
- support educational media activities that are designed to be of educational
value to children with disabilities;
- provide video description, open captioning, or closed captioning of
television programs, videos, or educational materials;
- distribute captioned and described videos or educational materials;
- provide free educational materials, including textbooks, in accessible
media for visually impaired and print-disabled students in elementary,
secondary, postsecondary, and graduate schools; and
- provide cultural experiences through appropriate nonprofit organizations,
such as the National Theatre of the Deaf.
Funding of IDEA's Technology
and Media Services grants is
delegated to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), at the U.S.
Department of Education. This NICHCY Web page will connect you to descriptions
of projects that received Fiscal Year 2004 funds from OSEP under IDEA's
Technology
and Media Services program.
These grants appear in Volume 4 of Discretionary Projects Supported
by the Office of Special Education Programs under the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, Fiscal Year 2004: Technology and Media Services.
Copies of Volume 4 are available from NICHCY while supplies last. We
are also pleased to make this information available to you online.
We’ve grouped the projects funded under the Technology and
Media Services program within the competitions under which they were
funded. Within each competition, projects are arranged in order from the
earliest to the most recent.
