NICHCY Publications Catalog: 2005

NICHCY is an information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues. Children and youth with disabilities (birth to age 22) are our special focus.

We offer more than the publications in this catalog! The following services are also available to you:

• Personal responses to your disability questions. Ask us about specific disabilities, early intervention, special education, family issues, education rights and responsibilities, Individualized Education Programs, and much more.



• Connection to more information or assistance. We can refer you to other organizations and agencies, including national and state disability groups, regional and state organizations, professional associations, information centers, parent groups, and advocacy groups.



• A terrific Web site. You’ll find all of the publications in this catalog there (for free!), as well as libraries of information about organizations, products available from other information providers, and conferences. Coming soon—a library on research!



• Can’t find what you need on our Web site—or don’t use the Web to get your information? Give us a call at 1.800.695.0285 (Voice/TTY). We can search our libraries for you and mail you the results.

Student Guide and Technical Assistance Guide

These publications are how-to guides made up of 3 components: an audioprogram, a Student's Guide booklet especially for students, and a Technical Assistance Guide booklet that parents, teachers, transition specialists, and others can use to help the student achieve the goals addressed in the student materials.

Note: Most people order these materials as a SET (it's less expensive, too!), but you can also order each component in the set individually.

On the audio program of this Student’s Guide set (available on cassette tape or CD, your choice!), young people with mental retardation, multiple disabilities, or autism speak candidly about their job-related experiences. Parents, transition specialists, and employers also share their insights. Supporting materials include: a booklet for students (8 pages) and a Technical Assistance Guide (20 pages) to assist families, transition specialists, employers, and others in helping students with significant cognitive disabilities find and keep a job.
