IDEA 2004 News:
Reauthorization, The New Statute, and Regulations
NICHCY is pleased to offer information on the IDEA, our nation’s special
education law. For those who are involved with or working on behalf of children
with disabilities, the IDEA is a very important piece of legislation. It
was amended (reauthorized) in December 2004, and lots has, and will be,

Building the Legacy: A Training Curriculum on IDEA.
Need training materials on IDEA 2004 and its final Part B regulations?
NICHCY is pleased to be producing a new training package, complete with
PowerPoint slide shows, detailed trainer notes, and handouts for participants.
Modules are being made available as they are reviewed and finalized by
OSEP.

The Regulations.
An official copy of the final Part B regulations of the IDEA were published
in the Federal Register on August 14, 2006.
The Model Forms.
OSEP (the Office of Special Education Programs) published the model forms
that were required to be made available at the time IDEA's regulations
were made final. This includes model forms on the IEP, the procedural
safeguards notice, and prior written notice. Find the model forms at:

Regional Implementation Meetings.
Save the date! OSEP is holding Part B Regulations Regional Implementation
Meetings in January and February 2007. Cities? Washington, DC; Los Angeles,
CA; and Kansas City, MO.
